I have kept politics off my blog for the most part over the years, maybe save for the several rants I went on regarding FEMA and Hurricane Katrina. Perhaps out of respect of friends and family, or maybe just to stay out of it, I have refrained from posting what I have really wanted to say. Looking back, perhaps that was not the right choice.
I myself read several dozen political sights every day, but I never pass on what I have read or any feelings from the world situation.
Today I want to pass this one on though. I am sure all of you heard the speech last night, or heard of it, or at least know that we are sending 20,000 more troops to Iraq despite calls from Democrats, Republicans, Scholars, past Presidents, the media, formal commissions and the majority of the general public.
Watch this recap if you will, the Iraq war summed up in just a few minutes.

I enjoyed your website. Especially your most recent comments on the current state of affairs in this country. We need people to be involved.
I’m not very knowledgeable about photography but I like yours and think they are very good.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Josh,
There’s no doubt in my mind that you’re coming to the same realization I have regarding what we see unfolding in our country today and the personal responsibility we each feel to *DO* something about it. Well, I suppose this responsibility isn’t universal for everyone and I have to admit I was pretty self-absorbed until the circus that was the 2000 Election woke me up.
The $25,000 question is: as individuals and collectively, are we responding to our problems out of politics or out of conscience? It’s a distinction we don’t really think about even though the two are worlds apart.
In other words, are you politically motivated or consciously motivated to speak out and respond to the things you SEE? If the answer is the cult of politics, prepare to enter an endless dance of dogma vs. dogma and a downward spiral of ideology vs. ideology. Because, if you think about it, the solution to a problem CAN NOT be the very thing that created it in the first place! Further, by remaining silent you would only be betraying your conscience despite what your friends, family or fellow country men and women may think.
If you are a person of conscience, the answer to your dilemma will be clear as day to you and likely you knew it all along but convinced yourself that you might offend someone or that what you see isn’t important enough to do anything about, etc.
Thanks for sharing the Keith Olbermann segment. He very succinctly illustrates the lies and resulting cognitive dissonance over the Iraq war. We need more like him, for sure…
