October is almost over- but what a pretty October it was! Here’s a shot from fishing on the Clackamas River a week ago or so.

Fog

Sunrise on Sauvie Island the other day. This is my favorite time of the year. The geese and ducks are coming back for the winter, the fog rolls in every night and blankets the fields, beautiful time on the island!

“Make a loan, change a life.”
October 19th, 2007 · No Comments
You may have noticed I added a banner on the right side of the page today. Kiva.org allows individuals like myself to give small loans to the working poor all across the world. As made popular by Muhammad Yunus, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, microcredit loans empower individuals to build businesses in underdeveloped [...]

Reflections…
October 17th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Last week I took the opportunity to reflect on both our calling in life, and fate. What is our purpose? What should we be doing with our gifts and talents? Is there a reason to all this insanity? If you didn’t read Leo Tolstoy’s short story below, I’d recommend it. I’d also suggest you [...]

The Call to Serve
October 11th, 2007 · No Comments
What follows is a paper I wrote for an Elected Officials Class with the Honorable Elizabeth Furse. I did not intend for it to become so reflective, but since it did, I share it with those interested.
“Politics is a strong and slow boring of boards. It takes both passion and perspective. Certainly all historical experience [...]

Do you believe in fate?
October 6th, 2007 · No Comments
It seems that several of my conversations with friends the last couple of days have revolved around fate and destiny. The people we meet, the paths we follow, and the choices we make often seem “pre-determined.” With the unexpected comes questions: What does this mean? Is this the right thing to be doing right now? [...]

The site had some background upgrading today. Moved up to Wordpress 2.3. Since I was already diving into parts of it, I’ve also worked on a few other things. You’ll notice that the last year’s worth of posts now have tags of the main themes. If you look on the right you can see which [...]

Well- its only been a few weeks since I returned home. I finally took the time today to choose 400 of the 2500 shots to upload onto flickr. I haven’t had a chance to ad descriptions to each one- so you’ll have to self-narrate.

Six years ago today…

… I was traveling the country in a motorhome with a high school friend. We had just arrived in Port Wing Wisconsin. We would end up working there for two weeks while we struggled to figure out the meaning of the attacks. Here is my journal entry from September 13th, 2001- when I finally was [...]

Positive Fundraising- An Example of Causing Change.

Although my residency in the good state of Oregon means my vote late in the primary season is near worthless, I have tried over this last year to keep up on the Democratic candidates for President. Because of this desire- I am subscribed to both feeds and email list serves of all of the [...]

Made it inside!
September 7th, 2007 · No Comments
Alright I’ve made it in. I’d estimate there is 2000 in here so far. There’s at least 500 waiting to buy a ticket outside, and another 1000 who have bought tickets just waiting to get in the door… Not bad for not publicizing the event too much. Also not bad considering there is a sold [...]
