We’ll, we’re just about outside Gray’s Harbor now. We’ve ‘committed’
to the earlier slack time. Dos Suenos decided to slow down when we
were around Destruction Island. They will cross around 11am
thursday. We should cross at 3:59 am. It’s debatable which crossing
will be nicer. We will be crossing after a flood, meaning the tide
has been going in. If we are early, great. If we are late, we’ll be
crossing while millions of gallons of water are spilling out of the
columbia river. Bad idea. Worse comes to worse we’re late, we check
with the Coast Guard on current conditions, and we decide to wait it
out and just motor around for several hours. Dos Suenos would have
the same problem if they were early. If they are late they’ll cross
on a flood which is not quite as bad.
So hopefully when the tides switch here in an hour, we’re going to
get our current back and speed up to the Columbia.
It looks like I might have a window soon to send these updates off,
so this is it for now.
I apologize they all came at once!
