Score!

May 31st, 2005 · 4 Comments

I was driving home at 10pm tonight when I spotted a fridge in my
neighbors driveway. With a big free sign on it, it is a ’small’
version of a regular fridge/freezer. Perfect for the dock!! So I
went and got a dolly at the station, and lugged that thing all the
way down the ramp. [...]

Prayers…

May 30th, 2005 · 3 Comments

an email from a friend tonight…
———
dear friends. it is with the heaviest of hearts that I write to you tonight. Tomorrow morning, the UPS truck will unload 15 boxes of CD’s onto my driveway and I will finally lay eyes on Bittersweet. Tonight I had planned on sending newsletter #7-5 which chronicled my [...]

Dream Catcher Final Update (Finally!)

May 30th, 2005 · No Comments

I apologize for the delay in a final update. But after a big trip,
the last thing you really feel like is sitting down and writing about
it all! So finally, for all of you, is the last update from the
Dream Catcher trip. Instead of trying to remember everything, I have
decided to just copy [...]

Dream Catcher Quick Update

May 27th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Just a quick update from the Columbia River this morning while I have
cell service. We crossed the bar thursday morning at 4am, only to
turn back out and do it again at 10am! We’re safe and sound and
we’re traveling up the river with our river pilot (Ralph). I’ll fill
in all the details once [...]

Dream Catcher Quick Update

May 25th, 2005 · 2 Comments

I wish all of you could see this sight. It is 10:45pm, and the stars
are absolutely beautiful out here. I couldn’t ask for a better
night! Mt Dew in hand, Ipod playing some nice tunes in my ear,
beautiful ocean, and barely a swell. Ahh, I love the ocean…
I’m only on watch until [...]

Dream Catcher Update #6

May 25th, 2005 · No Comments

We’ll, we’re just about outside Gray’s Harbor now. We’ve ‘committed’
to the earlier slack time. Dos Suenos decided to slow down when we
were around Destruction Island. They will cross around 11am
thursday. We should cross at 3:59 am. It’s debatable which crossing
will be nicer. We will be crossing after a flood, meaning [...]

Dream Catcher Update #5

May 25th, 2005 · No Comments

Well I really hoped to send updates while on the coast, but so far it
doesn’t look like it is going to happen. Near the coastline I have
service, but we went about ten miles out or so. So unfortunately you
will probably receive all of these updates when we are already back
in Astoria safe and [...]

Dream Catcher Update #4

May 25th, 2005 · No Comments

I’ve never had this dilemma before. We’re off the coast of Cape
Alava right now, 20 nm from James Island. Since leaving the straits
we’ve been averaging over 8 knots! The wind is blowing from the
North East at 17 knots, we’ve got a little bit of a current flowing
with us, and we’re flying [...]

‘Dream Catcher’ Update #3

May 24th, 2005 · No Comments

I write this update in Neah Bay, just a few nautical miles from
the Pacific Ocean. I hoped to send this update tonight, before
entering the Pacific Ocean, however cell phone coverage is minimal at
best and will not allow the use of email. Hopefully I will be able
to send this out while going down the [...]

Dream Catcher Update #2

May 23rd, 2005 · 2 Comments

Hello All! Today’s update comes from Port Angeles Washington.
Although we planned originally to make for Neah Bay today, after a
quick discussion Sunday evening with a local marine electronics
mechanic, we stayed around hoping to get our AutoHelm fixed.
Unfortunately it will not come out of standby mode, meaning somebody
must man the helm at all times. [...]

“Dream Catcher” Sailing Update #1

May 22nd, 2005 · No Comments

Welcome all to the first installment of the “Dream Catcher” sailing
journey. As some of you know, I was asked to help bring a 38′
Freedom Sailboat down the Pacific Coast. Leaving from Port Angeles,
we will make our way out the straits of Juan de Fuca, round Cape
Flattery, beat down the Pacific Coast, and finally [...]

It’s Late Again…

May 13th, 2005 · 1 Comment

I should go home and sleep, but I’m still working on the Fire
Department Levy stuff. Today’s tally is at 47% turnout. I need 40
more voters before Tuesday. Shouldn’t be hard.
Another great day at the Food Bank. Wish I was energized enough to
write about it, but have another long day tomorrow.
Tomorrow is [...]

Not to disappoint…

May 11th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Not to disappoint my few readers, a very quick update tonight. First
day of work was great! Lots of great people at Oregon Food Bank.
However there is tons to learn. I wanted to write something up some
thoughts tonight, but I’m pretty tired.
A weird experience tonight. I receive emails updating Blues Festival
information. [...]
