To all of my friends and family,

The Today show has been running a series “Live for TODAY”, requesting viewers to log on to their web site to say what you would do before you die. The first day the web site was open, I submitted the information below my signature.

Now, they are requesting that viewers vote on the top five. I was surprised and pleased to see “Dive the Great Barrier Reef” on the list. There is no guarantee that it is from my submission, but if it is, and if it wins, there is the possibility that I would get to go to Australia.

My husband and I moved to Florida in 1992 with the plan of buying a sailboat and sailing around the world. We bought the boat and then, at age 47, we both learned to scuba dive; I even became a scuba instructor. We talked a lot about different destinations and “must” stops for our trip. Diving the Great Barrier Reef and visiting Australia and New Zealand became primary goals.

Unfortunately, Frank died in 2001 before we could realize our dreams. Since his death, I have had a couple of “reversals of fortune”, but am back on my feet and looking forward to making a “Great Barrier Reef” trip.

The reef is one of the “pinnacle” destinations for most scuba divers. With some of the most recent news reports about problems with the reef, I find myself thinking more about this trip to see one of the world’s greatest living “structures”.

So, if anyone on the show wants to learn to scuba and wants to accompany me to the Great Barrier Reef, just let me know!
